Welcome to the Sustain DuPage (WhatsApp) Forum!

Here at Sustain DuPage, we have a looooooot to talk about- so we’re using WhatsApp threads to have these discussions.

Ground Rules

1) It’s important that you know that at Sustain DuPage, we commit ourselves to radical inclusion and intersectionality. We boldly and proudly welcome people of any race, gender, creed, sexual orientation, religion, class, educational background, political affiliation, immigration status, belief structure, and physical or mental ability. To that end, this is a space where we will work in good faith to minimize the creation of harm and we expect the same of all participants here.
2) If you never have before, please fill out our Volunteer Sign Up Form! This helps us to log you in our system.
3) Before you begin posting in any WhatsApp threads, we suggest that you explore/skim through the “about” descriptions for all of the threads so that you can get a sense of which thread it would be appropriate for you to post which content.
4) Don’t ever share any of your private/sensitive information or the private/sensitive information of another community member.
5) Do not spam, do not scam, and do not post any explicit (Not Safe For Work, NSFW) content. This could get you banned from the threads.
6) Please private message thread Admins (Administrators) if you need assistance.

How to Know Who Is A Member of the Leadership Committee/A Core Volunteer in the Threads:

All of our Leadership Committee Members and Core Volunteers are listed there.

Threads You Can Join:

General Threads:

  • Introduce Yourself
    • Here is a place where you can introduce yourself to the community. Consider sharing your gender pronouns, which of the 5 focus areas call you the strongest (Food & Garden, Creativity, Rewilding, Policy Reform, Knowledge Share), and anything else you feel is important to share about yourself. (We advise that you don’t share sensitive information on this platform).
  • Sustain DuPage Announcements
    • This is the channel that the SD Leadership Committee will make fast announcements in. (Weather cancellations, reminders, etc.)
  • Non-Sustain DuPage Announcements
    • This is a place where anyone in the community can post announcements of non-Sustain DuPage events/action opportunities that are happening in the community.
  • Rapid Response Alerts
    • This is where we will post alerts for ways you can act fast to help our community. It may be a local government meeting you can attend, a rally, a protest, a property with native plants that is about to be destroyed for development, or other important needs that require support.

Members Only Threads:

  • Members-Only Chat
    • A place for SD Members to coordinate with each other and discuss Sustain DuPage.
