Why Inventory Food Farms?

The United States is losing forty acres of farmland every hour- mostly through conversion to development. This should be an alarming statistic. When farmland is consolidated into the hands of a few we are at risk of food price instability. As plants and funguses begin to evolve a tolerance to the poisons we spray them with, we run the risk of national food collapse and starvation. By inventorying DuPage farms we are helping DuPagers connect with local food growers and support local farmers, so this land stays in food production.
